Creating a project

The build configurator: your idea, the stack, the approach, the fidelity, and who it’s for.

Every project starts the same way: you type what you want to build — on the dashboard or the landing page — and land on the build configurator. Your idea is shown at the top in your own words; a change idea link takes you back if it came out wrong.

If you attached images with your idea, they appear as chips under it. Images are uploaded to the project and reach the agent with your first message.

If you signed in after typing your idea, attached files may not survive the redirect — the page will tell you if so, and you can simply re-attach them in the chat once your workspace opens.

The choices

Model

Which AI model does the building. A sensible default is pre-selected; the picker lists the available models if you want a different one. The same picker appears later in the workspace, so this is never final.

Stack

What lands on disk when your project boots:

Stack	What you get
Frontend (default)	React + Tailwind. No database.
Full-stack	Postgres + auth out of the box.
Supabase	Supabase-hosted DB + auth.

If your idea needs to store data or sign users in, pick Full-stack or Supabase.

Approach

Approach	What happens
Quick build	Straight to building. Best for quick pages & prototypes.
Guided design	Map your users & screens first. Best for real products.

A Recommended badge follows your stack choice — frontend-only projects lean Quick build, projects with a real backend lean Guided design. You can override either way. See Design-first builds for what Guided design looks like.

Fidelity

The most consequential choice on the page:

Fidelity	What it means
Production	”Verified before every step completes — safe to hand a client.” Auth, data & deploy inspected; a verification scorecard you hand over. Strict gates.
Prototype	”Fast and loose to explore an idea — not for client handoff.” Gates off — speed over proof; may include mocked pieces.

Client (optional)

If you build for others, assign the project to a client here. It shows up under that client on your clients page.

Tier

How Creator talks to you:

Builder	”I want it built. Keep it simple.”	No jargon, no code by default. Chat + live preview only; Creator handles the technical bits.
Developer	”Full control. Everything on.”	Everything Builder has, plus the code view, memory lens, skill shelf, and full confidence signals.

Your preferred default tier is set in Preferences. As the page itself says: you can change this anytime — your project keeps its data.

Start building

The bar at the bottom summarizes the run — client · stack · approach · fidelity · tier — with an honest time estimate (“Verified · a few min” for Production, “Preview · under a min” for Prototype; deliberately no made-up dollar figure). Press Start building and your workspace opens.

If the model you picked needs an API key that isn’t configured, the page tells you exactly that (“API key required for …”) and opens the settings for that provider — paste a key or pick a different model.
